ACT — Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
Helping kids and teens build a life around what matters—without getting stuck in fear
How It Helps
ACT helps clients relate differently to distressing thoughts, feelings, or bodily sensations—without letting them take over. Through mindfulness, values exploration, and gentle behavior change, we teach clients to focus on what matters most, even in the presence of anxiety, illness, or uncertainty.
Best for
-
Children (8+), teens, and parents
-
Health anxiety, generalized anxiety, perfectionism
-
Coping with chronic illness, identity issues, grief
-
Procedural anxiety or medical avoidance
In our practice
We use ACT to support children making sense of illness or pain, teens feeling stuck in worry loops, or families dealing with medical trauma. It’s especially useful for kids who feel “trapped in their thoughts” or disconnected from what brings them joy.
